The Technical Rescue Team, located at Fire Station 4, is staffed by seven people per shift. The Station staffs E-4, R-4, L-4 and Battalion 4 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Team members receive extensive training and perform rescues in the areas of Confined Spaces, Rope Rescue, Trench Rescue, Machinery Extrication, Entrapped Patient, Structural Collapse and Advanced Heavy Rescue.
Team members utilize specialized equipment and apparatus in the course of their job. The Salem Fire Department is a member of the State of Oregon’s Urban Search and Rescue Team, US&R, comprised of 10 fire departments split into a North and South Region covering the entire State of Oregon.
