Bike lane and sidewalk closure for installation of new curb and sidewalk as part of a development project.

14th Street SE between Tripp Street SE and Oak Street SE will be reduced to one lane of traffic with flaggers.  Expect some congestion at this location.  This lane closure is for boring of the roadway at Shelton Ditch Bridge.

Portland Road NE at the intersection of Hyacinth Street NE will have northbound traffic reduced to one lane.  Additionally eastbound Hyacinth Street will have the dedicated left turn lane closed.  Left turns will still be allowed here. Expect congestion and use another route if possible.  These lane closures are part of the Hawthorne Avenue NE/ Hyacinth Street NE Corridor Improvements Project. 

Boone Road SE between Battle Creek Road SE and 27th Avenue SE will be reduced to one lane of traffic with flaggers.  Expect congestion at this location.  This lane closure is for installation of utilities as part of a development project.

12th Street SE between State Street and Bellevue Street SE will have the southbound lanes of traffic reduced to one lane.  Expect congestion and use another route if possible.  This lane closure is for installation of utilities. 

Thursday, May 16, 2013, through Wednesday, May 22, 2013, 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM daily, there will be various lane closures at the following locations for tree trimming around power lines.

Commercial Street SE between Boone Rd SE and Hilfiker Lane SE:
Thursday, May 16, 2013, through Monday, May 20, 2013, North bound traffic will be reduced to one lane.

Liberty Road SE between Hrubetz Road SE and Browning Avenue SE:
Monday, May 20, 2013, through Wednesday, May 20, 2013, North bound traffic will be reduced to one lane.

Hyacinth Street NE at the intersection of Portland Road NE will have the east bound right turn lane closed.  Right turns will still be allowed at this location.  Expect congestion at this location.  Local access will be maintained at all times.  This lane closure is for utility and traffic signal work as part of the Hawthorne Avenue NE/ Hyacinth Street NE Corridor Improvements Project. 

Court Street NE between High Street NE and Liberty Street NE will be reduced to two lanes of traffic.  Expect congestion at this location.  This lane closure is for a sewer service repair. 

Sidewalk construction activities will begin along the east side of River Road S, near the terminus of Miller Street S, during the week of May 6, 2013.

Motorists should use caution as this work will require lane closures on River Road S at Miller Street S.  Travel lanes will be intermittently closed, narrowed, and shifted to facilitate work within the construction area.  Bike lanes will be periodically closed and cyclists will be signed to merge with other traffic.  At times, flaggers will be present to control traffic.

This work will create traffic congestion within the area and motorists should expect delays.  Pedestrian traffic should expect sidewalk closures within the work zone and signed detour routes. Normal work hours are 7 a.m. through 7 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Additionally, the speed limit will be reduced to 25 miles per hour on River Road S, from approximately 800 feet south of Miller Street S, to just north of Miller Street S (see attached map).  The speed limit reduction will begin on May 6, 2013, and will remain in affect until the work is completed in June 2013.

The Keep Salem Moving! Streets and Bridges Bond, passed by Salem voters in November 2008, provided funds for improvements to sidewalks and bicycle lanes to improve safety to schools and parks.
