Economic Development

Salem is the capital city of Oregon and has a population over 160,000. With abundant natural resources, the Mid-Willamette Valley is the greatest producer of agricultural products in Oregon. It is also a strong manufacturing and distribution region with a prime location on Interstate 5 between California and Washington.

The area is within one hour of 80,000 college students between Portland and Eugene. Private sector employers and public officials aggressively collaborate on creative, industry-driven, and proactive approaches to supporting the workforce development needs of the region’s employers.
