Join the City Nature Challenge

What is the City Nature Challenge?

The City Nature Challenge is a four-day worldwide challenge where community members go out and make observations using their cell phone of wild plants and wild animals using the iNaturalist app. These observations go into a large database used by scientists to further their knowledge and research on biodiversity. You can be a citizen scientist by participating in this challenge!

How to Participate

Download the iNaturalist app available in the Google Play and Apple app stores. Make an iNaturalist account.
Take photos of wild plants and animals during the four days of the challenge. The challenge takes place in April each year.
Upload your observations to share with the iNaturalist community.
You can make observations on your own during the challenge dates or attend a City of Salem bioblitz event.
