Center 50+ could not exist without volunteers. If you have a few hours a week and an interest in helping your community, review the Center 50+ Volunteer Handbook and contact the Center 50+ volunteer coordinator. You can also complete the Center 50+ Volunteer Application and return it to Center 50+.

Current Volunteer Opportunities

Center 50+ Respite program has volunteer openings for one day a week (either Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday at 10:00am-3:30 or 4:00pm).

Volunteer Areas

Friendship Brigade

The Friendship Brigade recruits, trains, and connects caring volunteers with isolated seniors living in local community care and nursing facilities. To become a visiting volunteer please complete the Friendship Brigade Application and sign up for our next orientation/training today!

Orientation/training schedule:

  • Second Thursday 10:00 am - 11:00 am
  • Fourth Tuesday 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Respite

Center 50+ Respite program staff and volunteers provide a caring, supportive, and safe environment for individuals living with mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease and related dementia while caregivers receive a five-hour break from caregiving responsibilities. Assist with activities and encourage social connections.

Home Help

You can help those who can't come directly to the center:

  • Fix-it brigade – Minor home repairs (ie: deadbolts, peepholes, etc.)
  • Friendly home callers make scheduled phone calls and/or home visits to homebound adults 50 years old or older.

Friends Boutique

Volunteers help sell consignment and donated goods for our boutique. Some record keeping and organization is involved. You would also use a cash register and credit card machine.

If you have a particular skill, talent, or can teach Computer Basics for example, contact us and let us know.

Special Events

Volunteers are needed to help with special events and other short-term projects.
