The Salem Police Department invites local pet owners to sign up for its Paws on Patrol volunteer community safety program. You and your dog can become a powerful crime-fighting duo!
Paws on Patrol encourages community members to be more aware of their surroundings while walking their pets and to get to know their neighbors and neighborhoods better. Similar programs across the nation have helped police departments build stronger relationships with their community, fostered improved neighborhood camaraderie and safety, and helped increase crime prevention awareness.
Volunteers with the Paws on Patrol program will receive basic training and tips on how to be a good witness and how to effectively call 911 when necessary.
To join the program, complete the Paws on Patrol Application, then watch the short training video below. Once your application is processed, a bandana with the program logo will be sent to you for your crime fighting partner to wear while on walks.
